My Presentation

I have been debating about what I want to do for my presentation. I am really considering singing but I don't what song I can do that would tie into the class. Plus, should I just sing with a tape of the song or find some sort of accompanyment? I'm not quite sure. I sang the song Wade In The Water last year for music contest, their has to be some way to tie that song into the class.. I will have to check it out!!
I read chapter 2 yesterday. It was pretty interesting to learn about Charlie Patton and how influencial he has been. There were so many people listed in this chapter that charlie had been in contact with and taught them a few things. I some times get confused by the book when they are talking about the history of blues and then they go into a speal about something historical that happened like the floodings. I would forget what I was reading about almost. Other than that the book is pretty easily understood.

Deep Blues

Reading about the background of blues was really interesting to me. I never knew really where it came from or how it got its start. I found the book very engaging and packed full of new facts that I knew nothing about. The book has also helped me to appreciate the music we have been listening to for class. Knowing the background to some of the singers just makes it more interesting. I am excited to read on and learn more and also to see what other people thought about the reading! :)

My first blog ever!

I signed up for the fys Roots of music because I love music! I listen to radio all the time and I am usually singing along!

I like all kinds of music so its hard to decide on 5 pieces of music. I love this song from the 80s, but I don't the exact title or the singers full name. It is by Tiffany something and the chorus goes "I think we're alone now, there doesn't seem to be anyone around. I think we're alone now the beating of my heart is the only sound." I also like the new Justin Timberlake song, I think it's called Sexy back. The other three are hard to think of. Maybe Juicy, S.O.S., and Dream Big. But I like tons of other songs and types of music.

One song that reminds me of my grandpa is Fishing in the Dark. He loved that song and whenever it would come on he would get up and dance!

I'm sure I can think of song that could actually replace the National Anthem. We'd just have to make a new one up.

I try to get involved in all kinds of music related things. I am in University Choir right now. And have been in choir since 7th grade. While in choir I have been in ensembles and sang solos. I also was involved in high school musicals. The one we did just last year was Fiddler on the Roof. I played Hodel. I was also involved in band in high school, playing the flute.

I'm not really sure what'd I would ask Governor Blanco if I had a chance. I guess I can't think of one.
